Katyar Kaljat Ghusali ( A dagger through the heart) is a 2015 Marathi film based on a play by the same name.
Cinematic treat with wonderful music heightened by great acting.
Movie is about clash of two schools of Indian classical music ( singing styles ), clash of the best exponent of each style respectively, clash of egos, clash of diamonds, clash of true artists and clash of human beings with all the idiosyncrasies that governs their lives. When musical diamonds clash, the off shoot is millions of specks. Each sparkles produce millions of combination of the basic seven swaras, multitude of colors, shades of ragams, lilting music, bhavam, gamakams, brihas and sheer bliss. Add to this good performance by Shankar Mahadevan (acts and sings) and Sachin Pilgaonkar ( Geet Gaata Chal fame). Sachin’s performance is sheer class. Good to see acting without overacting.
The movie is a visual treat and follows the other two smash hits of 2015 (Bahubali and Masthani) and showcases a new era of Indian film making. The film’s music is composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy and the 17 songs are sheer treat.
Watch it in a big screen and a get a good quality print.
